We must value well the calm of a peaceful mind, though we suffer continual temptation to squander it. We sometimes seek the very things that deprive us of equanimity. Idleness, anxiety, anger, greed, and ignorance all draw our gaze. Ignoring them serves the soul. Seeking their opposites–purpose, anticipation, contentment, satisfaction, and mindfulness–make us more ourselves. And only through our true eyes, may we behold the true essence of things.
